Mote-Mote

onegai my melody doujinshi: mote-mote by columbia kho and mallory haslage

An Introduction to Mote-Mote

Hiiragi Keiichi is Yumegaoka's youngest violin virtuoso who has everything anyone could ever dream of; looks, talent, fame, fortune... but there was something missing. Something that Yumeno Uta, seemed to always have.

"Mote-Mote", which literally means "Lady's Man", takes place some time during the first season of Onegai My Melody; after his party where he met a mysterious girl named Kurumi Nui. Like a Cinderella in black, who is she, and why did she have to leave him so suddenly? And why in the world can't he get the plain, girl-next-door, Yumeno-kun out of his mind? Was it because Uta was the dream partner of the one who stood between him and the musical piece no mortal has ever played or heard, or could this be love? But which girl will he choose in the end?

Based on role-play logs written by Columbia Kho and Mallory Haslage, who writes as Hiiragi Keiichi and Hiiragi Jun. Mote-Mote come about from boredom and artist block. The idea for the doujin came about on April of 2009 and the first illustration (which is now used for the cover) came out a month after.

This is the first doujinshi I've ever truly visualized in finished pages since the others are left in forgotten sketchbooks as well as a few notebooks. I needed a break from A.illusions and that's why I decided to go ahead with this as I adore the series very much.

Mote-Mote will ~hopefully~ be updated every 5th day of the month (that is, on the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, and 30th)! Subscribe to my RSS feed, Blogger Follower, or Email news-listing found at the bottom of this site to make sure you won't miss a page!

I hope everyone enjoys this one shot doujin! Thank you so much to all my readers for all your support. I promise I will continue to work hard and bring out the next chapter of my original series soon... may it be A.illusions or, who knows? Maybe Karma will finally get its second chapter!

Be sure to watch out for Mote-Mote which premiers December 5, 2009!

A.illusions Gallery: Waiting in 4th Avenue Cafe

A mysterious girl is waiting patiently in 4th Avenue Cafe. Who is this girl and what, or who, is she waiting for?

I changed the colors of the walls because I wanted her to wear a purple dress. 4th Avenue Cafe has purple walls, but I didn't want the character to blend with the background.

I really love using my stock photo for backgrounds. Those bamboo plants were decors from a restaurant my siblings and I ate in. I was bored since they were asking the waitress about some details, so I took that picture while no one was coming in.

Hello Kitty Online: Game Masters

Hello Kitty's birthday is on Halloween, so I thought I'd make some fanart of her MMORPG's Game Masters.

The ones I saw from Level-Up's online interview some time ago are GM Neverender, GM Abby, and GM Bacon (from left to right). Lots of people were mentioning in the chat how pale or "white" GM Bacon was... others said GM Abby was really pretty, and a few more wanted to have GM Neverender's hair as an "item" in the game, haha!

Happy Halloween, everyone~ ♥

CrossOver: Pearl of the Orient

On September 26, Typhoon Ketsana hit the Philippines and flooded 80% of Manila.

Even now, many homes are still flooded, and many typhoons are predicted to come our way.

Please help the Philippines recover quickly. Click this journal entry to find places that are accepting donations wherever you may be. Thank you!

CrossOver: Rozen's Sacrifice

Rozen's Fighter is Kuromi as its Sacrifice is Hiiragi Keiichi. He is the same aristocratic boy that he is in Onegai My Melody, but when he crossed over to the world of Loveless, he finds Soubi unforgivable for serving two masters and wants him dead. He thinks Soubi could have done something to prevent Seimei's "death" if Soubi was a better fighter.

Godchild: Earl Cain Hargreaves

Uta's boss in Turnabout Café, Earl Cain Hargreaves was thoroughly upset when the City changed his top hat into... well, that. He refused to wear it, but Konata decided to take pictures and photoshoped the hat on Cain's head. It caused a bit of trouble for Konata, Hiyori, and Uta, but thankfully, they weren't punished.

I think the hat looks darling on Cain though.

Onegai My Melody: Tigress Song of Dreams

One of the first few curses that hit Uta was the Circus curse. She became a half-tigress, half-girl who could not really speak and did not remember much her life as a normal girl. When Mokona spoke to her though, she began to realize that the "dreams" she had being a normal girl was real.

Onegai My Melody: Turnabout Café

When Uta entered the City, she was determined to show that she was mature and responsible because she wanted her senpai to be proud of her... and not think of her to be a nuisance or something horrible like that. So she got a job in Turnabout Café as a waitress, as per a friend's recommendation.

There are two versions because I think the one on the left suits her more than the one on the right, but the color scheme on the right is more like the café's style. It worked out well for the term "turnabout" though.

Doujinshi Gallery: Mote-Mote

A concept title page for "Mote-Mote" or "Lady's Man". The doujinshi is about Hiiragi's dilemma on falling in love with 2 very different girls. Sadly, he ended up with either one of them in the original series.

Onegai My Melody: Captured

When the City was changed into the setting of the Arabian Nights, Kuromi was sold to Prince Hiiragi in order to pay for her father's debts. He bought her long before she was trained to be a slave girl, so she was "raw and untouched", traits that the Prince found to be of great interest. He didn't mind that she was willful, as he believes he could break her will eventually. In the City, both their wills broke as they fell in love, a relationship considered taboo.

Onegai My Melody: One Snowy Day

Honestly, I do not like the way the colors came out of this one. It's actually done in color pencils, but my scanner didn't pick up the colors correctly. I wonder if I should have taken a photo instead?

When Hiiragi fell asleep on the couch, Kuromi hugged him and told him to wake up. He argued with her because he was afraid if he opened his eyes, she might not be there any more.
