#KomiksVSKomikeros Challenge

Dude, this literally took forever..! I want my sleep!! (〒﹏〒)

Thank you Bokimkatje Komiks for the template! I'm sorry, I couldn't fit all my komiks into it, so I had to adjust... I did not know I had made so many comic pages already!

Also thank you Honey Den for the only decent looking, "normal" photo that I have of me, what the freaking heck-- ( ≧Д≦)

And to answer your question, yes I realize there is a dA watermark in my Twilight's Calling page, but I dunno where my files are... and it is originally colored, but aesthetics. ( ꈍᴗꈍ)

To my publishers: Mango Comics | Oh-No! Manga | BLACK INK | PSICOM Publishing Inc. - From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for the opportunities~

EDIT: And it was only after posting this on my Facebook did I realize I had missed 3 or 4 other comics I had worked on. ヘ(。□°)ヘ

Kurohiko's ART SUMMARY 2018

2018 will forever be known to me as the year of webtoons. I had to end my first popular webtoon with Enjelia earlier that year so that she could focus on her project... later, I launched Crystal Shadows as a webtoon, and then entered Apteral into the webtoon contest!

I pretty much failed more than I succeeded, but... Overall, it has been an amazing and wonderful ride. I have learned much more in the past year than compared to any of my other years as a manga artist. I don't know what 2019 will bring, but I do know that I want to keep trying for as long as I can.

Thank you all for the love and support! And if you'd like to try out this meme yourself, check out the original template by roika-elfili on Deviant Art.

Draw This Again: Mango Jam 13 Years After

I've been seeing a lot of people drawing their illustrations from 10-something years ago, and I thought it would be fun to try it myself.

Mango Jam: Twilight's Calling is my first published manga, and issue #7 was my debut cover for the magazine. There were a lot of revisions for this piece, but the end result was worth it~

Looking at my artwork back then is making me cringe a bit. (´-ω-`) I had to adjust my style to look similar to the previous artist's work, and I learned a lot in the process.

By the way, please ignore the logo on the new one, haha! I just traced that and used an existing font that I have on my PC. It's not meant as an improvement on the logo or whatnot, more like a... placeholder? (*´▽`*)

Do you think this is considered an improvement? Or do you prefer my old style?

Either way, if you want to try the meme yourself, grab the original template from Bampire on Deviant Art~

The 8th Philippine Komikon: Aftermath

ANNOUNCEMENT: If you have any information regarding the theft of Ms. Alexa’s bag and Doc Carlo’s DSLR, please do not hesitate to contact Komikon.org. Thank you!

Another Komikon has come and gone, and this marks the second time that I was able to participate as a seller thanks to the amazing Raykosen and Studio 4 Eyes! O(≧∇≦)O

As I mentioned before, Crystal Shadows has officially launched under Studio 4 Eyes with the main characters on the cover! It’s too bad we didn’t know exactly how and where we can print colored covers without burning a hole in our Editor’s pockets, but hey, we actually managed to sell all the copies! How cool is that?! ヽ(;▽;)ノ

100 Araw ng Komiks: Interview Meme/Q&A by Columbia Kho

Hey, guys! We’re having an “Interview Meme” over at 100 Araw ng Komiks, so I thought I’d just share mine over here. :D Forgive the lengthy post~ but do read on if you’re interested! :3 I’ll translate the Tagalog questions into English for those who can’t understand Tagalog~

About Me: My name is Columbia Kho, an amateur manga artist dreaming of becoming a pro!

Tungkol saan yung unang komiks na ginawa mo?
* What is your first comics about?

Karma is about angels. The first story was an experimental, short-story I drew for a call for submissions on Culture Crash, a local comic/manga magazine. Alas, it was never published, but it was a good learning experience for me~

What is your favorite medium? Tools of the trade?

Watercolor and color pencils! I love drawing in a sort of “pastel” effect, but because of time constraints, I’ve had to color in Photoshop for most of my paid commissions. ^^;

Describe your drawing style in 3 words

Shoujo/Shounen Manga. x.x;;; I tried to change said-style for my thesis, but… I don’t know, drawing in Manga/Anime style always makes me very happy.

Twilight’s Calling: Cammy Gomez

I just realized the configurations of my screen was terribly... terribly wrong.

Lately, I’ve been practicing drawing directly on the computer to see if that would speed things up. I didn’t think that screen resolutions would be a problem, and ever since I got a 17-inch monitor, I would always use 1280x1024.

What I didn’t realize was that all those circles I’ve been drawing were ovals all along. So basically, my digital drawing were quite… long. But this new illustration of Cammy Gomez from Twilight’s Calling was drawn in a newly adjust screen, so hopefully, the proportions look better!

…what? I wanted to draw something nice, fluffy, and… pink. Someone in Deviant Art was asking for more Twilight’s Calling art, especially of Cammy showing off her new-do~ :> How can I resist?

Also, Windows 7… why are there still several programs that don’t work properly on you? I finally gave up on it and went back to XP Home. It’s notably slower than Win7 because a 32-bit only recognizes a maximum of 3gigs of RAM. I have 4gigs, so 1gig will be sitting around in my CPU doing nothing for now. ;_; I guess I should give Win7 a few more months before I try it again so that other programs can catch up!

R.I.P. my bluw wacom pen, which is barely working now. Guess I need to buy a replacement soon. ;o; Why are my techie things dying? ;_;

It’s a Promise

This lovely fanart of Sean and Twilight (whom I hereby dub “Twean”!) by ~SweetIris reminded me that I should draw more artworks from this series. The story ended rather abruptly, and believe me, it was surprising to me too that I was already drawing the last chapter on issue 13!

I’m more of an EnLight (Enzo x Twilight) fan though. I should draw those and see what gets thrown at me.

And don’t worry! Just as Twean made a promise to each other, I promise to work hard on the art trades I promised! ^_^

Cammy and Rei

Christmas has come so early for me this year~! This time, I got a crossover fanart from Evangeline Louise; Twilight’s Calling’s Cammy Gomez and A.illusions’ Rei Kuassary!

Rei’s so tiny and cute! And wow, Cammy… I haven’t seen fanart from Twilight’s Calling in a long time. Perhaps I need to draw illustrations from that series again.

Thanks so much, Evangeline! December will definitely be a busy month for me!

Picca 2010 Festival

picca 2010 festival - freedom wall - sm north edsa the block

Picca 2010 Festival is currently being held at SM North Edsa’s The Block. It just so happened that my family and I passed by and the number of people present in the gathering really surprised us… Not really all that surprising when I found out that famous local artists are drawing caricatures for a cause. Exactly what, I didn’t get to find out, because my parents were in a hurry.

CrossOver: Pearl of the Orient

On September 26, Typhoon Ketsana hit the Philippines and flooded 80% of Manila.

Even now, many homes are still flooded, and many typhoons are predicted to come our way.

Please help the Philippines recover quickly. Click this journal entry to find places that are accepting donations wherever you may be. Thank you!

Mango Jam - T.C. 11 page12

mango jam twilight's calling comic page by kurohikoThe "to be continued" page. The details on this page didn't show too well on print. Loved how the mirror of dreams shattered when Twilight realized she may not be the one Sean loves.

Released in Mango Jam #11 on 2007

Mango Jam - T.C. 11 page11

mango jam twilight's calling comic page by kurohikoAnother page from that Mango Jam's 11th issue. This was when Miguel broke the news to Twilight that her beloved Sean has asked Cammy to be his date.

Oh drama of heart break. ☆*:.。.o(≧▽≦o)

Released in Mango Jam #11 on 2007

Mango Jam - T.C. 11 page03

Thought I should upload some of the comic pages I made. There was a lot going on that lead me to take A.illusions on forced haitus. Being my own color artist was one of them.

Enzo just defended Twilight against Kate's stupid verbal abuse. Twilight shows up and lets them know she can stand up for herself.

Released in Mango Jam #11 on 2007

In other news... Deviant Art's Categories are a lot more confusing than what they use to be... *sweatdrop*

Character Sketches [7th Bride]

7th bride character sketches by kurohiko

A couple of sketches I've done... I'm not entirely sure I'll be going with the "7th Bride" story from Mango Jam. It is/was suppose to be my debut series, but I'm not entirely sure if I want to go through with it...

Just a bit disappointed that's all... (╯︵╰,) And quite confused... o(TヘTo) I guess I just wanted to post the initial character sketches here for my sake, since if I don't go through with 7th Bride, I'll probably use these characters for my own series. (* ^ ω ^)

EDIT: No longer working for Mango Jam, so these cuties will probably appear in a one shot manga soon. (´ ∀ ` *)

7th bride character sketches by kurohiko

R'nala... The antagonist of the story... Name is not mine of course, just the character design. ヽ(*・ω・)ノ

From the same series, 7th Bride...

EDIT: Will be renaming her soon. ( ̄▽ ̄) SInce I don't work for MJ anymore, I can huggle this character and use her for other stuff I have in mind! ( ´ ▽ ` )

7th bride character sketches by kurohiko

Close up of the faces of Sam and Bridgette, the protagonists. :) I really love the way this turned out... Sam is so Filipina, while Bridgette is so Asian. ( ´ ▽ ` ) Of course, Sam being the Filipina is the main character. (´ ∀ ` *)

EDIT: Hurray! They be mine now. ヽ(>∀<☆)ノ No longer 7th Bride's! Rofl...

Mango Jam 13

3 different covers of Mango Jam 13... (´ ▽ `;)

Not entirely sure where the one in the center came from. ( ̄ ̄|||) I only made the one on the left, and the one on the right (both photography backgrounds) but was surprised to saw the one in the middle in the final publication. ヽ(`⌒´メ)ノ

Love Conquers All

It's just one of those drawing you can't seem to get yourself to finish... ( ̄ ̄|||)

When I saw ~FinalFlash0's request to do a collab with me doing the lineart and him doing the coloring, I thought I might as well upload this... It *has* been rotting in my files for a year now... (´-ω-`)

Remember my lovelies, Jazz and Miguel are copyrighted characters. :D Please do add a comment if you want to color this as well... I'd truly want to fave it and all. (´▽`*)

Coloring Notes:
Jazz (the girl on the left) has dark purple hair, and violet eyes. She's Chinese.
Miguel (the guy on the right) has brown hair and blue eyes. He's Filipino.
You can see a sample here.

CoKho7's Note: Added a link to a colored sample of Jazz and Miguel (along with the red-head Twilight)... My recent drawing of Miguel looks different, haha... (≧◡≦) Enjoy coloring guys!

Mango Jam Issue 9

Mango Jam Issue 9: Twlight's Calling cover by Kurohiko and Alex

Oh~ I found the other cover! (´。• ᵕ •。`) ♡

This one I didn't color... Alex colored this for me since I was off to Hong Kong for a business trip... Didn't have time to clean up and color everything before I left. (ノД`) But I have to admit, this might be my best cover to date. o(≧▽≦)o Thanks Alex!

Please visit Alex's gallery!

Mango Jam Issue 7

Oh~ My first cover page on print! ☆*:.。.o(≧▽≦)o.。.:*☆

So this was released a year ago... o(>ω<)o Why are my deviant art stuff always a year late? Lol? (´ ▽ `;)

Oh... I'm not too happy with what happened to this, haha. o(>ω<)o I had no idea there'd be so many texts on the cover! Lol... If you're interested, the picture without text is found here.

I was playing around with the colored outlines for this... :D I was following my colorist's coloring style (to little/no success XD). Check out Caroline's Deviant Art and samples of her colored pages of my work over here and here.

Cheers! (´ ∀ ` *)
