Angel Rei Fan Art by Honey Den

Honey Den has drawn another fan art of Angel Rei and she's so pretty in Honey's style! Kinda reminds me of Rayearth for some reason... Maybe it's because of the face shape?

There are two versions because she was asking be about the colors, particularly the fire effect for the burning feathers. I'm not very good at it myself, but I gave her a bunch of samples she could get inspiration from... I think it turned out pretty well, don't you think so?

One more mixed OC... which is now turning into "When 2 OC's Have a Child", lol!!

This one is a lot of fun to make! He was supposed to be their son, but he can be a daughter too, and... why does he look evil when his dad's an angel?! Or maybe he's not evil and he's just judging everyone, I am not sure, but I really love his design very much!

Both parents have blue eyes though, so he might just be the male version of Honey's OC?

Also, my angels are very popular requests for this meme... I think I better use another series for the next one. And I cannot believe I don't have a better colored illustration of Tori. I will work on that another time, for sure.

Mix OC with Potato Misaki

Got to finish the next one! This time it's with Misaki's character, Misachan~!

She drew a fan art of Misachan with Dominic before, so I was kinda expecting this to happen~ Unfortunately(?), I couldn't get this idea of the two of them having a daughter together because I know Dominic would love to have a daughter. And he'd be a great dad... I know he would!

I seem to be keeping the recurring theme of using the "dad's" eyes for their kid, and then using the "mom's" features for the rest! (^^*) Their daughter does have dad's hair type though, even if that is mom's hair color. Oh, and she definitely has her dad's personality! Hehe~

I have one more coming up! Hopefully, my stomach will stop hurting long enough for me to finish it very quickly! I hope everyone is doing well during quarantine! (^^*)

I'm not sure what the exact rules are for this one, but... I am thinking this new character could be their child..? He has his Dad's eyes and his Mom's demeanor, ahaha~ It seems obvious who he's closed to.

I wonder what his name would be..?

Kurohiko's ART SUMMARY 2018

2018 will forever be known to me as the year of webtoons. I had to end my first popular webtoon with Enjelia earlier that year so that she could focus on her project... later, I launched Crystal Shadows as a webtoon, and then entered Apteral into the webtoon contest!

I pretty much failed more than I succeeded, but... Overall, it has been an amazing and wonderful ride. I have learned much more in the past year than compared to any of my other years as a manga artist. I don't know what 2019 will bring, but I do know that I want to keep trying for as long as I can.

So far, there are only 2 humans that appeared in KARMA. But if you include Apteral, that makes it three humans... doesn't it? (◯Δ◯∥)

In any case, I really love Jeremy~ He actually reminds me of Hayato here, Ichinose Tokiya's alter-ego in Uta no Prince-sama~ Maybe I will use Hayato's color scheme on this when I get the chance.

And then there's sweet, adorable Aly. She doesn't know it yet, but those "powers" of hers will come into good use one day. (^^*)

I wonder if we should reprint this... (ﾟωﾟ;) The adult coloring book fad has already come and gone, but this could actually be considered as an art book by itself.

Gift: Angel Yukee by Honey Den

Now that I have my thumb drive back, I can continue posting these pieces by Honey Den too~ (´∀｀）

Before I got to know Jack Frost and Queen Elsa, I was fascinated by the fairy tales regarding snow queens. Not necessarily the one from Narnia, but snow beings in general... Maybe it has something to do with my desire to see falling snow, but I digress~

I wanted to make an ice angel... Shuei is a water angel, sure, but I wanted an angel that had ice as their specific element.

Yukee-hime came to mind almost immediately. ღゝ◡╹)ノ♡ She carries a death scythe in A.illusions which makes her look like a very powerful and dangerous character. I wanted to give her a similar vibe if and when she crosses over to KARMA.

Honey was very interested in Yukee-hime from the start. So I told her about Yukee being a possible ice angel. She hopped right on to the opportunity and I got this as a result.

Thank you again, Honey~ (*≧∀≦) I'll treasure your coloring book forever~

Apteral: Episode 4

I didn't think I'd make it..! This is probably the first time I'd ever been able to beat a deadline with one day to spare! And it feels amazing!

...that's the good news. The bad news is, my eyes feel weird. I feel tired all the time, and it might just be fatigue, but my eyes are really scaring me right now.

I may need to see a doctor about this. Hopefully I can get some answers before the next deadline comes up. For now, I should probably rest and stay away from the computer for a while.

Apteral: Episode 3

Oh, well... someone's pretty pissed off! He's not even using attack spells yet... Shuei just wanted to make a huge distraction so that he and his siblings could get away safely!

I really miss drawing action scenes... These are not exactly easier than drawing shoujo, but I just think it looks cool! I need to find a ton of reference material for the next few episodes though, I'm really rusty!

A friend of mine is getting me into Tales of Vesperia lately, and it has a lot of flashy sword fights. I should watch some of the play throughs available on YouTube. Maybe that will get me some ideas.

Apteral: Episode 2

I love this panel from Episode 2. It probably works better as a manga panel than a webtoon panel, but I didn't have the heart to change it. TwT;;;

I think I'm slowly getting the hang of drawing webtoons, but I really wish I can draw much faster. There are times that I catch myself just staring at the panels in disbelief, when I know I should just suck it up and draw the darn thing... Sigh.

Also, I find it strange that no one is asking what the human's name is. Everyone else has been named so far, except that one human in this supernatural series. Why is that? It makes me a little bit sad that no one is curious about him. ;;w;;

Apteral: Episode 1

Episode 1 re-introduces Shuei, whom we've already seen in KARMA: Chapter 1. In the first installment, we knew him as "Reign Shuei", but I decided to use his last name for the webtoon so as not to confuse him with Rei.

I got to showcase his powers a bit more in this webtoon episode~ And it's actually pretty fun that I got to re-draw all my characters, with the exception of Caliso, a new demon I created especially for this spin-off. She is actually the same demon in Chapter 2, but we never got to see her real form until now.

Also, I have the utmost respect for all the webtoon artists and creators who can somehow manage to draw one episode every week! When do you guys manage to sleep and eat?!

Welcome to Apteral

Hello my poor neglected blog~ It has been a busy past few weeks. (^^*)

After much thought and a lot of encouragement, I've decided to release KARMA's spin-off series, Apteral on LINE Webtoon. And so far, I'm really happy with how it's turning out! I feel like I bit off more than I could chew, but I'm still gnawing away at each panel~

And it's working! I've never drawn so much before, and I'm kinda regretting at how it's affecting my diet, but I'm really proud of what I've accomplished so far!

Gift: Karma Coloring Book - Boys Side

For this week, let's feature the 3 boys from KARMA! (*≧∀≦*)

Dominic Hunter is a fire angel like Rei. The two of them are the few fire angels Heaven has, and for the both of them to be on Earth is very rare and unprecedented. Rei is actually older than Dominic, but he can be very overprotective of his older sister.

Shijirou is an overseer of angels, meaning he keeps all angels in check. If anyone goes over the line of what they could and should do, he will be the one to guide them back. I haven't given him much of a role in KARMA yet, but his element is water.

Finally, we have Tori. He's the youngest among the angels, but that doesn't mean he is naive. In chapter two, he couldn't hear the conversation that Shijirou had with Rei, but he suspected that there was something more to the case they had just resolved. His element is earth, which possibly makes him more powerful than Rei or Dominic.

Gift: Karma Coloring Book - Rei Kuassary

This week, we'll be featuring my favorite angel, Rei Kuassary! ( ´ ▽ ` )ﾉ She has two solo portraits in Honey's Coloring Book, so I guess Rei is one of Honey's favorites too!

Rei is a fire angel, and a she's is the only female angel featured in KARMA so far. Unfortunately, I can't really write about her much because I'm planning to continue KARMA in the near future, and writing about her powers or her background would be a huge spoiler for the main plot.

I can tell you that her sword is definitely not her primary weapon of choice. *(*´∀｀*)☆

In any case, Honey used a coloring application on one of her illustrations... this is the result:

Doesn't Rei look so cool in a white coat?! (*≧▽≦) I did an illustration of Rei in a white coat years ago, but now I want to try it again because of this!

I really should start writing that main plot... Then I can start drawing this series again!

Gift: Karma Coloring Book - Ylagan

Next character featured: Mel Ylagan! One of the demons / fallen angels introduced in chapter 3, who was supposed to be a male character, but at the insistence of my assistant Suoh, "he" began a "she"! ━Σ(ﾟДﾟ|||)━

I created this character and named her "Ylagan" because this Filipino surname means "to dodge". Although she loves to steal souls, she's also a really big scared-y cat! (∗´꒳`) Actually, she'd rather avoid confrontation altogether, even though she's not particularly weak! I wonder why that is?
