#KomiksVSKomikeros Challenge

Dude, this literally took forever..! I want my sleep!! (〒﹏〒)

Thank you Bokimkatje Komiks for the template! I'm sorry, I couldn't fit all my komiks into it, so I had to adjust... I did not know I had made so many comic pages already!

Also thank you Honey Den for the only decent looking, "normal" photo that I have of me, what the freaking heck-- ( ≧Д≦)

And to answer your question, yes I realize there is a dA watermark in my Twilight's Calling page, but I dunno where my files are... and it is originally colored, but aesthetics. ( ꈍᴗꈍ)

To my publishers: Mango Comics | Oh-No! Manga | BLACK INK | PSICOM Publishing Inc. - From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for the opportunities~

EDIT: And it was only after posting this on my Facebook did I realize I had missed 3 or 4 other comics I had worked on. ヘ(。□°)ヘ

Gold Manga BEST #2 – Coming to MIBF!

psicom gold manga best 2 - my facebook boyfriend for real manga by kurohiko and a b castueras

This volume features Raykosen’s illustration of Alesana Marie’s “Talk Back and You’re Dead!” The first time Ray showed this to us, I got pretty excited, because the expressions on the characters’ faces look so intense! I can’t wait to read the manga adaptation!

The other 3 series in the first book will be entering their second chapter, but this marks as TBYD’s debut issue so don’t miss it!

GOLD Manga #3 Available at NBS Fisher Mall!

Because I’m terribly excited to see how the latest book came out, I went hunting for it today at Fisher Mall. I though I had to dig around for them like last time, so I was surprised to see that they were placed on the top shelf!

I haven’t read all of the stories yet, but browsing through them, I can tell everyone worked hard in making their pages! I took photos of some of my favorite scene for each artist, just so you guys can have a little sneak peek!

For WISH*GRANTED, I am loving the new tones I used for this book. I’ll probably use the same tone count for the next chapter of FBBF, but I’ll tweek it a little more to get it as clean as possible. The highlighting is different too, but I’m still not totally satisfied with it, so I might use another technique later.

Anyway, please do grab a copy of GOLD Manga #3! We hope you’ll continue to support us! Go forth, GOLD Artists! Let’s try even harder in the next book!

Gold Manga: WISH*GRANTED

Since everyone is posting their sneak peeks, I guess I can post mine too! O(≧▽≦)O

WISH*GRANTED is about Louise, a teenage girl who has a crush on her schoolmate, Harry. Like any love struck teenager, all she wanted was for Harry to notice her, and maybe, ask her out for a date. Would making a wish in their school fountain help make her dreams come true?

I really like this story, so I did my best in illustrating this manga as best as I could! I don’t know when it will be out in stores yet, but I’m sure it’s coming very soon! o(≧∇≦o)

Thank you, Kkabyulism, for the chance to work with you! And of course, the lovely Miss A.B.Castueras for her mad editing skills! I hope you guys will enjoy this story! And please check out Enjelicious’, Power-J’s, and RAYKOSEN’s posts on Facebook too! ☆~~ヾ(>▽<)ノ。・☆

Kurohiko’s ART SUMMARY 2014

Another year has come and gone, and I’m happy to say that I had even more manga projects for the year 2014! I’ve learned a lot last year, including being patient with myself, as I’m less industrious than the younger generation of Pinoy Manga Artists! I’ve also realized how much hard work and dedication it takes to go from one manga to the next, not to mention, adjusting styles to better suit the story entrusted to me! (´ω`★)

Most of all, I feel incredibly blessed to have fellow artists as my friends and rivals as we push each other to become even better than we were before. Thank you, Enjelicious, Power-J, and Raykosen! And to my idols, Sir Memer, Sir Ilog, Miss Tepai, Florineil, and Kuru-san, I promise to work even harder so that one day, I can proudly say that we have become rivals!

Let’s go, 2015! I’m ready when you are! O(≧▽≦)O

WISH*GRANTED – Coming Soon!

I did say I’d show you guys what I was working on, but since the release date has not been set, you’ll just have to settle for this colored panel for now. (。´∀`)ノ This is one of my favorite scenes, but it was definitely hard for me to choose one for my FB cover.

I really love how this story is written! Kkabyulism was so generous to let me do whatever I wanted for the artwork, and I think it turned out pretty well! (o*≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆ This is definitely one of my best works yet, but I still think shoujo style is much harder than shonen, haha~!

Watch out for Louise, King, and Harry in WISH*GRANTED via PSICOM, coming soon to bookstores near you! ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

Gold Best and FBBF4 in SM Megamall

I had some errands to do yesterday, and got to walk around SM Megamall for a bit. I’m happy to confirm that Gold Best and FBBF4 is available there! (。´∀`)ノ Powerbooks carried copies of FBBF4 while Filbars and National Bookstore carried Gold Best! It made me a little giddy to see it for myself~ (〜 ̄▽ ̄)〜 But I hope I didn’t scare the salespeople in the stores.

I bought a copy for myself since I can’t wait to see FBBFmanga in print. (>y<) I want to see if I need to fix anything for the next chapter too. Yay for more reading material! ☆*・゜゚・*(^O^)/*・゜゚・*☆

Gold Best Now Available Nationwide!

Nads: “What?! #GOLDBEST is now available nationwide?!”
Nads: “Why didn’t you say so?! This is something that my fans should know-”
Liz: “Assumer! You’re the only one who has fans? For Real?!”

I’ll probably run around bookstores later to see if this bit of news is really true, and I’m really excited to see this in actual book form! I’m not sure if going with the “no shadows” style is actually a good idea so…

Ah..! I can’t wait!!! ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆

FBBF Manga Fan Photo by Manager

Source: STOP! In the name of LOVE! AMEN! (Anne Bernadette Castueras)'s Photos

I confess, I may have enjoyed designing the girls a little more than the boys for this manga. However, reality began to set in once I began drawing them for the manga since drawing long hair can be such a pain!!! ヽ( ̄д ̄;)ノ I had to draw most of Nadine’s hair freehand since it was so time consuming.

I think I need to adjust the art and text a bit for the book’s spine next time. I thought it would be ok, but from these photos, it’s still not perfect. (シ_ _)シ Argh~! I wanna see the book already!!! (o≧Д≦)o

FBBF Manga Fan Photo by Kristine

I don’t have my own copy of Gold Pinoy Manga Best yet, so I’m relying on fan photos to see how our book turned out… Leave it to Taichou to be one of the first few people to post pages from the FBBF Manga~ ☆ミ(o*・ω・)ノ

From the photos, it looks ok. The tones look clean, and choosing to skip the shadows made the pages look brighter than my usual works. Yes, not putting shadows on every single panel was actually intentional, and not due to time constraint. Since this was a fairly text heavy manga, I wanted the art to be “lighter” but still full of detail. This style is experimentally more shoujo than my other works, but I hope it’s still “me” anyway! (*≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆

Did anyone else get their copies? If you did, take a photo of your favorite FBBF manga page! I’d love to feature you here too! (*´∀`*)

Counting Stars…

I wish I can finish all my deadlines. o(TヘTo)

I actually found this star while walking around a park (or was it a sight-seeing area?) in Canada. It was just the pendant, so I guess the chain broke? I asked around if someone had lost it, but no one claimed it from me. I wonder if I scared them off? (;*△*;)

I had forgotten that I had this until recently… then I remembered Aly and Enjelia’s manga, “Nine Stars”. It’s in Tagalog, but I thought I’d translate it anyway.

May all your wishes come true. ヾ(。・ω・。)

GOLD Manga – A Short Review

First of all, congratulations to my friends and fellow artists, Enjelicious, Jeff Nice, and their authors, Alyloony, Aril Diane, HaveYouSeenThisGirl, and A.B. Castueras! The manga looks very good, and I also found the stories to be quite interesting! I’ll definitely look forward to the second volume!

I promised them that I’d write a review, so… here goes!

Nine Stars | written by: Alyloony | illustrated by: Enjelicious

This might be my favorite story in the anthology. I found Claire to be very cute both in the way she looks and her overall personality. I might actually start counting nine stars for nine straight nights… maybe I will have my wish granted too.

I’m hoping there will be a continuation, since I want to know more about Claire, but the story ended nicely anyway. Alyloony is easily becoming one of my favorite authors.

Superstar | written by: Aril Diane | illustrated by: Jeff Nice

This definitely had a Korean drama / Kpop feel to it (and knowing Aril, it’s no wonder). This story is also short and sweet, and had a good enough ending to give me a bit of closure. I’m not too fond of Chris, who I admit, had all the right intentions, but… argh! He’s just so frustrating! But he did make a great comeback in the very end. I have to commend Jeff for that last page’s illustration because that was really effective!

Waiting for the Train | written by: HaveYouSeenThisGirl | illustrated by: Enjelicious

I’m a bit biased since I’m a fan of HYSTGS and Enjelicious but… REALLY?! DID IT HAVE TO END THAT WAY??? REALLY???!?! I wanted to throw the book for making me feel all these EMOTIONAL KNOTS but… argh…

Putting that aside, this was another good, one-shot story that has unexpected twists. Just one thing: I’m not really sure why Train Girl had to narrate the three things the train did to her before it was shown in the manga itself. It felt a bit redundant, but it’s completely minor, since it did set up the story very nicely.

Once Upon a Time | written by: A.B. Castueras | illustrated by: Jeff Nice

This is the only one that had a “to be continued” at the very end. Looking good so far! I love Skye very much, because if I wasn’t an artist, I’d be a police officer.

No, seriously.

I’m a little confused, though. Why take away the guy’s bed? That’s an absolute no-no in my book! (Unless I’m running after a deadline, well…) He went on a date like his sister asked, so why punish the guy? Also, that trip feels like it came out of no where.

Then again, there was this:

And that really disrupted the pacing.

Overall, the manga was a good buy, and I’ll be eagerly waiting for the second volume.

However, on a side note, the event I went to just to get the first release of this book was… not such a good experience.

I had arrived early (around 10:30 am), but the line for book purchasing was near horrifying by the time. With my ticket number as my queue, I had to wait nearly 5 hours just to buy the books.

Given the popularity of the authors under PSICOM, I don’t understand why they didn’t set up more counters to accommodate more people, quickly as easily. I’m pretty sure there were many who just wanted to buy the books, since the autograph event started much later, but I guess this was a marketing strategy (or they really didn’t think there’d be such a huge turnout).

Plus, the venue was uncomfortably hot.

I think I may be getting old… conventions like these are just too much for me to handle now. Next time? I’m waiting for the store release… Sorry guys… I love you and all, but I’m getting way too old for this. m(_ _)m
